Shipping Up to Boston

The performance took place at a venue called the LilyPad located within Inman Square, Cambridge. It’s a trendy little place, and when the show began it was a packed house positively brimming with excitement. The musicians played superbly, and any of my pre-show jitters quickly melted away as they performed my piece. Following the concert, we went out on the town to celebrate a successful show, and I had the opportunity to meet many kind musicians.

ABOUT

Composer SJR Caldwell is fascinated with writing music which gives audiences immersive experiences. Inspired by popular avant-garde movements, Caldwell has sought to combine the accessible and the unfamiliar. Whether for full orchestra, chamber ensemble, soloist, electronics, or anything in between, Caldwell’s music welcomes performer engagement and repeated listening. He writes in many styles, ranging from very approachable (lofi) to challenging (contemporary classical) to stridently opaque (harsh noise). Caldwell often creates artwork, animation, and poetry to transform his music into engrossing multimedia works. No matter the current study, Caldwell is keen to welcome musicians and audiences on the journey, to find their own path, and to ultimately share in the joy of the experience together.
